History

The Valery & Ex3 Project appeared towards the end of the majestic year 2000. The Project took form as members of the renowned Petersburg rock group Experiment Na Troikh (The Trio Experiment) joined up. Their wealth of experience in numerous TV and radio appearances, and performances at some of the city´s most prestigious locations, coupled with Valery´s easy-flowing bluesy vocals have made a living legend of a group.

Valery & Ex3´s work differs significantly from most current groups, thanks to its original take on a wide variety of classics of the world of blues and rock. The bright and deeply emotional performances, deftly chosen for each separate event to produce a veritable menu of great music, move even the most sceptical in the audience to a bit of toe-tapping and (not to mention hip-gyrating!).

During its years of experience, the group has performed in various different set-ups, with from 4 up to 8 performers, which has involved inviting along as special guests some of the finest musicians in the city. As such, recent, and recurrent performers involved in the group are:

  • Valery (vocals)
  • Grigori Maliyov (bass, harmonica)
  • Pyotr Bodrov (electric and acoustic guitar)
  • Constatin "Can´t Stand Still" Stukov (trumpet, percussion)
  • Andrei Polovko (sax)
  • Igor "The Whale" Kravchenko (drums)

Some of the finest moments of the band include taking part in the Jimi Hendrix Festival, annual biker´s events (Honda GoldWing 2006), the Janis Joplin Birthday Party, the Jubilee Concert at the Petersburg rock club in 2001, AC/DC party 2007 and numerous concerts in clubs in Stockholm (Big Ben) and Helsinki (Storyville and On The Rocks).

Their last album, Favourites, met with great enthusiasm among the groups´ followers, and they are pleased to announce that their next album is already in the pipeline. It will include some all-new covers, as well as a number of original tracks whose style will, of course, draw heavily from their bluesy-rock heritage. In plans of the near future is a clip for a recently recorded single Water.

The group have a huge repertoire of some of the finest music from the 50´s to the 70´s, including Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, AC/DC, Shocking Blue, Bonny Tyler, Garry Moore,The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Elmor James, Etta James, Tito & Tarantula, Chuck Berry, Smokie, Pink Floyd, Junior Wells, Elvis Presley, ZZ Top, The Clash, Suzan Tedeschi, Aerosmith and many more, none less worthy, but too many to list; you get the idea!
